You said it perfectly. Adoption has been sold to the world through marketing, not truth and the cost has always been human lives. It’s time people see past the glossy narratives and understand the machine behind it: separation, profit, and lifelong trauma disguised as “love.”

As an Adoptive Parents of 2 Transracial Adoptees from Korea, I wish we had the education we are getting now from Adoption Mosaic (Astrid Castro) when our kids were little.
Astrid makes room for Adoptive Parents to learn along with the other two sides of the Adoption Constellation. Its hard. But worth it.
It is nice to see so many young AP in these classes, doing their work now.
We have a lot of love, but no understanding of the Adoption Trauma, etc.

Thank you for saying this. I'm currently reflecting on the past year that I've had while reuniting with my biological family. I can honestly see my childhood from a whole new perspective, and meeting my family has really improved my relationship with my adoptive parents.
And yet, it's still complicated and there's still so much to grieve.
I had no idea how much I didn't like my parents, and I wish I'd had that lens and been able to stop judging myself the whole time. My adoptive parents are learning so much about what their expectations should have been, too. It's been healing, but also very hard. I want to make sure that I'm writing from a place where I can organize my own thoughts through the process of writing, while also being able to share with others.
