The complexities of separation trauma and adoption leave adoptees feeling fragmented, traumatized, and conflicted, and these emotions deserve acknowledgment, not dismissal.
As always you explain what I have felt so well. Even though my situation is a "hybrid" one, I was not given up by my birth mother, but was denied by a birth father and adopted and living under the pretense he was my "real" father, I share many of these feelings you write about.
Hi Doreen, Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m really glad that what I shared resonates with you, even though your experience is a “hybrid” one. It sounds like navigating the complexities of being denied by your birth father and living under the pretense he was your “real” father must bring its own set of emotions and challenges. I can empathize and totally see why! I appreciate you sharing that with me, and I’m so glad we can connect through these shared feelings. Keep sharing because sharing is healing! XOXO PK
Hello beautiful friend, Thank you so much! It means a lot to know that you found it meaningful enough to share with others. I truly appreciate your support and am grateful that my words resonated with you. A big piece of WHY I write is for adoptees, so they can share with others to help them understand. Keep sharing your heart, keep healing! Sending you so much love! XOXO PK
